Bloating and flatulence? Food sensitivity! 06 Jun 2010

Do you get chronic stomach bloating: a couple of times a month? Couple of times a week? You know - the embarrassing gurgling, straining to squeeze into trousers, the bellyache, and unmentionable sequels later in the day.

Pssst!! You too? I know what you mean because I get it too. I just put up with it. Maybe compare notes with a friend in the Ladies room.

Mine seems to be getting worse the last few months - can't work it out. I never used to get this . . . . . . . was it something I ate?
Does this sound familiar? Yes??
Then it's very likely to be something you eat - present tense! Something you eat every day. Something you would never suspect. Something that's part of your everyday routine - a muffin at morning tea, a protein shake at lunch time, easy noodles at home.

Is it normal to have a bloated stomach?
No - stomach bloating is NOT normal. It means your body is unable to properly digest certain foods. Incomplete digestion leads to other problems.

The likely outcome of this unfinished bio-chemical reaction is bloating, flatulence, stomach pain - even diarrhoea and/or constipation. See Video explaining Food intolerance

These problems, over time, lead to other more serious conditions like anaemia, loss of nutrients, dehydration - even osteoporosis.

Your stomach bloating is a precious signal that you need to do something. You can easily investigate your food intolerance or any food sensitivity by keeping a simple food journal.

Suspect Dairy, Gluten, Fructose or Yeast (the most common culprits). To narrow down the possibilities look in the Symptoms Matrix and compare your symptoms (register first).

What if I can't be bothered? Does it matter?
Well there are no real risks . . yet. But you might like to upgrade your hospital cover for the years ahead. Because if you get symptoms like this all the time and do nothing about them, you could be in for some difficult health issues.

There are serious health risks associated with chronic undiagnosed symptoms of food intolerance: anaemia, Celiac Disease, diabetes and bowel cancer to name a few.

How to fix? Investigate by using a food diary
Food intolerance is common. Up to 3 in 4 people are affected. And the only way to get proof is to use a purpose-designed journal, like the Detection Diet Journal.
