Every Child Deserves To Shine

Learn the signs - and find out what to do

As parents - we all want the best for our kids.

But food toxins are confusing and cause vague symptoms - which are difficult to link to foods: poor self-esteem, serial infections, skin problems, juvenile arthritis, headaches, migraines (yes, kids get migraines!), depression and lost learning opportunities.

We help you learn the signs, and know what to do.

'Just thought I’d give you some feedback from Caitlin’s paediatrician. The first thing he did was comment how well Caitlin was looking.  He was very receptive to the whole food intolerance concept . . . I told him all about your website and he was most enthusiastic and is going to have a good look at it.  He said to stick with the (diet) for Caitlin (I was going to any way) . . .

All in all it was a very positive visit.  Again, I can’t say how grateful I am to finally have some answers. I was worried sick about Caitlin before starting this regime.  She was so thin, pale and achy.  Now she had colour in her face and has put on 1kg in a week and a half.  Kindest regards  - Jane F.'

How to recognise Food Intolerance in children

Watch for common signs

    • Do your kids get tummy pains, headaches - or migraines?
    • Do they catch colds easily, get a barking cough or ear infections in the winter?
    • Do they easily lose concentration in school - or often feel tired?
    • Are they small or under-developed for their age?
    • Are there ongoing toilet problems like tummy aches, diarrhea, constipation?
    • Are they unco-ordinated or clumsy?
    • Do your daughters have difficult or heavy menstrual periods?
    • Are your kids self-conscious about flaky skin, eczema or psoriasis?
    • Is there a history of asthma?
    • Are there behavioural issues - or learning difficulties?
    • Do your kids sometimes seem withdrawn, blue or moody?

All these conditions are linked to the action of FOOD TOXINS.

Already had clinical tests for gluten, fructose or dairy?

Have your children had clinical testing: blood tests, breath tests, skin scratch samples or other procedures? Clinical testing for food intolerance can be inconclusive or downright misleading.

So please don't rule out food intolerance - just because a test didn't pick it up. Medicine is still catching up with advances in food toxin pathology. So traditional testing methods may no longer be relevant.

There are more than twenty food toxins . . . and they act together in various combinations to cause internal damage make us sick.

The Institute’s eighteen years of helping clients has shown - the most effective approach is to move to a LOW-TOXIN DIET.

We have found the best results come with moderation … that is - a diet which allows some favourites while greatly reducing the level of toxins in the blood . . . find out more at foodintol® LoTox Living

Lactose Intolerance: Prevalence, Symptoms, Treatment

Dairy Intolerance, Lactase Deficiency, Milk Intolerance

Nx9133

Lactose intolerance is defined as "the inability to digest the milk sugar lactose" - due to a deficiency of the enzyme lactase. We start out as infants being able to digest lactose. But by weaning ~ 2 years of age most people lose the ability, that is - we no longer produce the enzyme lactase.

        • Lactose then becomes a food toxin: something which contributes to damage in the small intestine - fostering the development of disease.
        •
        • Milk protein, casein also damages the small intestine, see casein allergy.

Prevalence of lactose intolerance worldwide is 75% - or three in four people. In certain ethnic groups it's even higher*: NIDDK states up to 90% of African Americans. Most sufferers are unaware - leaving them vulnerable to illnesses like malabsorption, autoimmune disorders and mental illness.

Nightshade Sensitivity

Could you be reacting to FOOD TOXINS Nightshade Vegetables? If yes, why?

Because this group of foods is only recently introduced to our diet from South America. We have only been eating these foods since the seventeenth century, around four hundred years. . . We humans take many thousands of years to adapt to new foods - because it requires that we evolve new biological equipment.

Nightshades contain food toxins

There is a group of vegetables which - if eaten frequently or in excess - are now known to cause Leaky Gut Syndrome in some people. Leaky Gut can lead to more serious medical conditions.

They contain actual FOOD TOXINS: alkaloids, lectins, phytates and saponins.

Which Ones Are Nightshade Vegetables?

The most commonly eaten nightshade vegetables are:

    • Capsicum family (bell peppers, chili peppers, jalapeno, cayenne pepper etc.)

    • Eggplant (Aubergine)

    • Goji berry

    • Ground cherry

    • Potatoes - especially potato skins

    • Tamarillos

    • Tomatoes and concentrated tomato products

    • Tomatillos

How Do Nightshade Vegetables Cause Leaky Gut?

DigestSystemCrop

Depending on the quantity eaten, the effect of saponins in these foods can damage the gut lining and lead to disease.

Saponins in these foods have evolved to protect the plant from being decimated by insects. The action of the saponins it to dissolve the cell membranes of predatory insects so they die.

Unfortunately this same effect - damage to cell membranes - can also be suffered by mammals (like us!) frequently in the small intestine. The result is a gut lining that develops holes and allows the passage of foreign - often toxic - substances into our bloodstream - making us ill . . . Leaky Gut.

In addition some of this group of vegetables (e.g. potatoes) also contain lectins which cause additional gut damage in large amounts in some people. Remember - the effects of nightshade vegetables depend on the quantity eaten. Overindulgence - as with any 'modern food' may lead to problems.

What Causes Headache?

Headache and Migraine: Prevalence, Causes and Treatment

Recent studies* have shown that a common cause of headaches and migraines is toxins in common foods. In fact - chronic headache or frequent migraines are Red Flags . . .  you're  probably recting to FOOD TOXINS. Take care. If left unattended it could get worse and develop into disease.

    • More than 45 million Americans suffer from chronic recurring headaches
    •
    • Around 40 million Americans suffer from migraines

Studies show a LOW TOXIN DIET is effective for relieving suffering. About low toxin diet

'Dear Deborah, My neurological issues have reduced significantly!  This is great, since it was the category that was giving me the most grief.  I have had two to four migraines with aura per month for the last two years.  I have now gone 31 straight days without one!  That's huge! . . . My skin issues have diminished significantly. My musculo-skeletal symptoms have decreased to almost nothing. Thanks, Bob Sawitski'

Headaches are caused by inflammation of the brain's delicate membranes

How common is Headache and Migraine?

Prevalence of Headache and Migraine in Children and Adults

The prevalence of headache and migraine amongst westernised countries is high - we believe too high. And it applies to both adults and small children alike.

In one study in Finland researchers found that seven year-old children starting school are suffering headache and migraine at any increasing rate:

  • Almost 52% of the children studied had suffered headache in the last 6 months (up from 14% previously)
  • And almost 6% had experienced migraine (up from 2% previously)

In addition - for adult Americans from a 2003 study - in any given year:

  • 90% of men and 95% of women suffer headache
  • They spend $2 billion annually on over-the-counter headache medications alone
  • More than 20% of all young people (15 - 25) in the US experience chronic headaches

What causes Headache and Migraine?

The causes of Headache are various. But if you can rule out jaw or neck injury, almost all the other occurrences of headache can be slated back to Food Sensitivity - directly or indirectly. Food sensitivity or Food Intolerance is when you cannot fully digest certain foods.

Chronic or recurring headaches are almost always food related. Specifically they happen because of your food intolerance: the inability to fully digest certain foods. Therefore a major cause of your headaches and migraines could be one of:

  • Gluten intolerance
  • Dairy intolerance
  • Yeast sensitivity
  • Other possibilities include Corn Allergy and Nightshade Vegetables

Of course you will not have all these sensitivities - probably only one, maybe two. Learn more with the Free ebook about Food Toxins

"I took your advice and the results have been fantastic. My headaches have reduced drastically as well as the regular wheeziness.

The biggest difference has been with the minor migrains i used to get after exercise...the hotter i got and the harder i worked out...especially running.....i would always end up with a massive headache that would last the rest of the day.

My husband and i love competing in triathlons, so in order for me to survive these headaches, i would take nurofen before a race (or workout) and then straight after....often i would still get the headache but sometimes not as bad. Now we have investigated a number of areas including my salt levels, neck and muscular problems and water intake, but nothing has solved the problem. It was getting to the point where i was scared to work out too hard (especially in summer) for fear of what i'd live with for the rest of the day......and with children...that's not good!

Since being free of those foods i have been able to train hard and not have the headaches....it has been AMAZING....i thought it was something i would just have to live with.....so thanks a million!!!! Erica"

How did I get the food intolerance that's causing my Headaches?

Blame your parents! Food intolerance is genetic . . . it's in your genes! You got it from your parents, grandparents and other ancestors!

That also means - if you have children - you have already passed on the same genetic material to your sons and daughters. Don't you think it's best to find out if you are affected by FOOD TOXINS? So you can share this precious information with other family members (older and younger)?

What if I do nothing about my Headaches or Migraines?

You can choose to do nothing of course. But chronic pain like migraine or headache is a warning sign that you could develop further health issues. It's like a Red Flag - so it's a very useful alarm signal. Make a promise to yourself to learn more.

What Causes Diarrhea?

Chronic diarrhea linked to food toxins

The World Health Organisation defines diarrhea as 'three or more loose bowel movements in 24 hours'. Diarrhea means semi-digested food is eliminated from the body too soon for nutrients to be absorbed - often because of missing enzymes or damaged intestinal cell structures.

Chronic diarrhea is associated with dehydration, weight loss and malabsorptive disorders. Unfortunately diarrhea is usually 'medicated away' with over-the-counter preparations. We believe it is better to discover the cause.

Clinical studies now implicate FOOD TOXINS

Scientists confirm, FOOD TOXINS in common foods interrupt precious digestive processes and actually damage tissue - like the small intestine. We now know distressing diarrhea can often be healed by reducing food toxins - with a LOW-TOXIN DIET

What is the definition of Diarrhea?

The definition of Diarrhea - according to the World Health Organisation is:

  • "having three or more loose bowel movements per day."

Diarrhea - is a troublesome and distressing gastro-intestinal symptom - and it happens for two main reasons:

When the intestine's function is impaired; and when certain enzymes are missing. Both types come about due to food intolerance - the inability to fully digest some foods.

Other symptoms associated with Diarrhea include:

To learn about food toxins and their impact on your body: Free ebook about Food Toxins

What are the causes of Diarrhea?

In developing countires - poor water quality and intestinal infections cause Diarrhea.

But generally, in our affluent Western society - diarrhea is caused by your inability to fully digest certain foods: food intolerance. However - because food toxins act together - it makes sense to move to a low toxin diet.

But how do you know which food intolerance you have?

You might feel that you only have one food intolerance, say dairy or gluten. But new research says that is not how food toxins work.

Studies have found around twenty food toxins collaborate to cause damage and miseries. That is why the best soluiton is to reduce food toxins generally.

How does food intolerance cause Diarrhea?

One reason for Diarrhea is an immune response. With partial digestion (as in food intolerance) - unrecognised or 'foreign' protein fragments are created. When the immune system senses these proteins it responds by putting itself 'on alert'. That causes inflammation, tissue damage and disruption to normal processes - in this case in the intestine.

Another reason diarrhea happens is when the intestine is unable to produce enzymes to digest certain sugars. E.g Lactose - (a sugar) needs Lactase (an enzyme) to break it down. If there is no Lactase present the sugar causes an 'osmotic purge' in the intestine. Too much fluid flows back into the waste products making stools loose and watery.

How do you treat Diarrhea?

Temporary relief treatment: Some choose pharmaceuticals: medications or supplements for temporary relief. Some people go for use probiotics thinking that will help.  But many are made with ingredients which actually cause diarrhea in the first place.

But none of these go to the cause.

Permanent Cure: Remove the actual cause of your diarrhea. It's easy! There are now so many great food choices on supermarket shelves. And the good news is - if food toxins are the problem - your diarrhea should begin healing within a few days of being on a low toxin diet.

I've had so many tests in the past that say "normal" or whatever, according to their criteria, and it was when I started reading about food intolerances etc that some light was shed on the possible real cause.  I'm mainly referring to my diarrhea here - 10 years of suffering, endless tests saying "normal" and then a finally a solution that turned out to be a (food intolerance) problem, and relief coming within days by simply eliminating some foods from my diet.

You'll have to forgive me - I've become a bit of a major "Food Intolerance Convert" after years and years of no answers from the medical profession.  Your website really opened my eyes.  Sorry if I think you have all the answers - it's a big compliment from me - sincerely.

Keep up the great work.  Kindest regards - Jane

What are the consequences of Diarrhea?

If left untreated - Diarrhea can progress into quite serious disease. Of course you can decide to carry on as you are - and keep taking medications just for the symptoms.

But please be aware you may develop any of the following in addition to your daily diarrhea:

Why did I get Diarrhea - and when will I be cured?

Answer: Food intolerance - or sensitivity to food toxins is genetic - it's in your genes! You got it from your parents, grandparents and great grandparents. And if you have children - you have already passed on that same genetic material to the next generation. It's like having brown eyes or freckles. It just is.

So find out your food intolerance and teach your sons, daughters and grandchildren.

Question: When will I be cured of Diarrhea?

Answer: Here at the Institute we don't see bad reactions to food toxins as diseases. Diarrhea is the result of eating foods which contain toxins.

The 'cure' is to avoid that food. No drugs, treatments or surgical procedures are needed - just the right fresh foods
